Melted Toys and Speculator videos from Bottom of the Hill 1/19

Last night I checked out Bottom of The Hill to see some great local performers, and a Los Angelian.

First Speculator played a solid set. It was good, but it made me long for the New Year's show he played that felt like a rave. This show, like most SF venue shows, was full of still standers. Not to say that I danced the entire night, but I boogied to the Spec sounds.

As always, sorry about the low fidelity....

After Speculator, the Melted Toys swooned and crooned. It was really fucking dreamy. The boys of the band swayed and bobbed while their tunes grooved in sync with the drum machine. It was a fantastic thrill for my ears. I was so proud of these dudes for coming such a long way since their previous band together (Worldwide Computer God). Usually when bands start new projects, it's hard for them to stray from their old sound, but the boys of Melted Toys have flown into an almost new genre of dream wave... I'm gonna copyright that.

The Young Prisms played last night as well, but I saw some dude with an official looking video camera, so i decided to let him film the future rock stars. The Prisms played as loud as ever. My chest vibrated from the extreme low frequencies coming out of the bass amp. The band looked great on stage, but alas they were missing the wonderful Jason Henardy (sorry if yer last name is spelled wrong. Jason will be missed as an integral part of the prisms, but I hope the band continues on their path of success and ever-growing popularity. Buy their new LP.
